## Definition

Maximum permissible exposure is the FCC's limit on external field quantities — electric field strength, magnetic field strength or power density — that a person may be exposed to, averaged over 30 minutes for the general public and 6 minutes for occupational exposure. MPE values are frequency dependent and are derived from the underlying SAR-based restrictions.
