# LATNEX AF-5000

> Three-in-one meter with a three-axis 50/60 Hz magnetic sensor, a 50–2,000 V/m electric-field mode and an RF mode specified from 50 MHz to 10 GHz, in which the manufacturer states that readings below 1 GHz and from 8 to 10 GHz are for reference only.

## Key values

- **Manufacturer:** LATNEX
- **Model:** AF-5000
- **Type:** Multi-field meter
- **Instrument class:** Broadband RF power-density meter
- **Quantities measured:** power density, electric field strength, magnetic flux density
- **Axes:** mixed
- **Peak hold:** No
- **On-device logging:** No

## Frequency coverage by mode

One band per measuring mode, as the manufacturer states it.

- **power density** — RF: 50 MHz – 10 GHz (reference only below 1 GHz and 8–10 GHz)
- **magnetic flux density** — Magnetic: 50/60 Hz only
- **electric field strength** — Electric: 50/60 Hz only

## Display range by mode

- **Magnetic field, three-axis** — 20 / 200 / 2000 mG (2 / 20 / 200 µT) (resolution 0.02 / 0.1 / 1 mG)
- **Electric field** — 50 – 2,000 V/m
- **RF power density** — 0.02 µW/m² – 554.6 mW/m² (36.1 mV/m – 14.46 V/m, −51 to 16 dBm) (resolution 0.02 µW/m²)

## Calibration

No calibration certificate is listed with the meter.

## Suited to

- An inexpensive first look at all three field types, with the three-axis magnetic reading being the strongest mode
- Screening for elevated wiring and appliance magnetic fields at 50/60 Hz

## What it cannot do

- RF figures below 1 GHz and between 8 and 10 GHz are reference only by the manufacturer's own statement, which rules out quantitative work on FM, TETRA, 700–800 MHz cellular bands and anything above 8 GHz
- The magnetic sensor responds at 50/60 Hz only, so it cannot quantify inverter, induction-hob or traction fields in the intermediate range
- ±(15% + 100 digits) on the magnetic mode is a wide tolerance at low field strengths
- No peak-hold, so short pulsed bursts are under-reported
- No logging and no frequency identification

## What these figures are

Every number on this page is the manufacturer's own declared specification, reproduced so that models can be compared field by field. Nothing here is an independent test of the instrument, a calibration certificate, or a statement that a reading taken with it can be compared with a regulatory limit — that depends on the detector, the averaging and, where it matters legally, an accredited calibration.
