## What the figure does not cover

- The declared 80 dB is a flat-sample figure; overlaps have to be conductively joined or each seam becomes the dominant leak
- Needs a level substrate for crease-free bonding, and structured surfaces must be smoothed or shielding paint used instead
- Metallised coatings degrade with abrasion, moisture and corrosion, and the loss cannot be seen
- Conductive: it must be grounded correctly to control low-frequency electric fields and to be safe near wiring
