## Scope

Applies to base-station (BTS) emissions, not to handsets, and is enforced through access-service licence conditions with self-certification, TERM Cell audits and penalties. India adopted the ICNIRP 1998 levels in 2008 and then reduced the base-station allowance to one tenth of them on the recommendation of an inter-ministerial committee. Handset SAR is regulated separately at 1.6 W/kg over 1 g.
