Does 5G expose people to more radiation than 4G?
Answer
5G uses the same kind of non-ionizing radiofrequency energy as 4G and remains subject to the same exposure limits, so the change is in deployment pattern rather than in kind: more, lower-power nodes closer to users, plus beamforming that points energy at active devices instead of radiating uniformly. Higher mmWave bands penetrate walls and skin far less than the mid-band frequencies that carry most 5G traffic. Measurement surveys of deployed 5G to date report levels well below regulatory limits, though the research record on beamformed mmWave exposure is thinner than for earlier generations, which is a genuine gap rather than a finding of harm.
