Declared attenuation
Each figure is the manufacturer's declaration for the frequency and the layer or coat count named next to it. The percentage is computed from the dB value, not quoted separately.
- 1 GHz, single film layer on glass
- 32 dB — removes 99.937% of the incident power density (1 part in 1,585 gets through)
Test method
Manufacturer-declared at 1 GHz, measured to ASTM D4935-10 or IEEE Std 299-2006, with a screening report per material.
Construction
12 metal-coated layers on polyester carrier, 75 µm thick, water-activated pressure-sensitive adhesive, 72% light transmission, very light green tint.
Typical application
- Interior face of window glass
- Glazed doors and other level glass surfaces
What the figure does not cover
- Interior application on non-heat-absorbing glass only: applied to already-metallised solar-control glass, multiple reflections heat the pane and can crack it or break the edge seals
- The cut edge exposes the metal layers and has to be sealed, or the film corrodes inward from the edge
- 32 dB on the glass does nothing about the frame, the reveal or the wall around it, and the window frame needs separate shielding to keep the path closed
- Field arriving through walls, roof or floor is untouched, so a film alone rarely changes a whole-room reading much
What these figures are
Every attenuation value on this page is the manufacturer's own declaration for a flat sample in a test fixture, reproduced so that products can be compared on the same terms. It is not a regulatory limit, not an independent test, and not a prediction of what a meter will read after installation — an installed shield is set by its weakest path, so the only figure that describes a room is a before-and-after measurement of that room.
