WOREMOR RF-IE50 PLUS shielding paint

Maximum-attenuation version of RF-IE50, declared at 40 dB one layer, 48 dB two layers and 54 dB three layers at 1 GHz, and 44/66/86 dB at 40 GHz, with the manufacturer noting reduced hardness and abrasion resistance as the trade-off.

Declared attenuation

Each figure is the manufacturer's declaration for the frequency and the layer or coat count named next to it. The percentage is computed from the dB value, not quoted separately.

1 GHz, one layer
40 dB — removes 99.990% of the incident power density (1 part in 10,000 gets through)
1 GHz, two layers
48 dB — removes 99.998% of the incident power density (1 part in 63,096 gets through)
1 GHz, three layers
54 dB — removes 100.000% of the incident power density (1 part in 251,189 gets through)
40 GHz, one layer
44 dB — removes 99.996% of the incident power density (1 part in 25,119 gets through)
40 GHz, two layers
66 dB — removes 100.000% of the incident power density (1 part in 3,981,072 gets through)
40 GHz, three layers
86 dB — removes 100.000% of the incident power density (1 part in 3.98 × 10^8 gets through)

Test method

Manufacturer-declared, measured in WOREMOR's own EMC laboratory to 40 GHz; declared values are quoted at 1 GHz and 40 GHz for one to three layers.

Construction

Water-based acrylic dispersion with natural graphite and carbon black, solvent-free and plasticiser-free.

Typical application

  • Interior and exterior walls, ceilings and floors
  • Rooms where the target level needs every available dB

What the figure does not cover

  • The manufacturer states limitations in hardness and abrasion resistance, so it needs a protective top coat in trafficked areas
  • Must be grounded — interior via a grounding strap and plate, exterior via the fibre additive and ground plate the manufacturer specifies
  • Layer counts are not interchangeable: the 54 dB figure requires three continuous layers, and a thin third layer does not deliver it
  • The declared figures are flat-sample laboratory values and exclude windows, seams and penetrations, which normally set the installed result

What these figures are

Every attenuation value on this page is the manufacturer's own declaration for a flat sample in a test fixture, reproduced so that products can be compared on the same terms. It is not a regulatory limit, not an independent test, and not a prediction of what a meter will read after installation — an installed shield is set by its weakest path, so the only figure that describes a room is a before-and-after measurement of that room.
